The exhibitionist

The exhibitionist

In October I take part in a local arts festival. The Pint Arts Festival to be precise. It’s a first for my little part of the world. It’s been organised by Alistair Kennedy, a talented artist in his own right. Alistair has put a lot of time and effort into coordinating all of the artists involved, recruiting some of the areas local businesses as sponsors, sourcing multiple locations for the show and generally being an all round dynamic mover and shaker on the local arts circuit.

I’d like to say that I too have been as dynamic as Alistair. I’d like to say that but I can’t, in all good faith, make that self congratulatory statement.

I have a knack of leaving things to the last minute. I’m a procrastinator of Olympic proportions. Only gold medals for me, thank you very much. It’s not intentional, you understand, there are many excuses reasons for always being ‘almost late’. And I’m often so close to the wire with projects that one day I’ll end up with a self inflicted razor wire injury.

As I’ve mentioned the  excu reasons are many and varied. There is the time consuming day job. That’s always a good way for any honest shirker to start a list. Then there are my many home life commitments. The unexpected, out of the blue, spur of the moment plan disruptions (of which there have been a few). I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this list.

In reality, there are no reasons. I’m just rubbish at time management and leaving things to the eleventh hour is my usual modus operandi. The festival has been almost a year in the planning and that is possibly the main problem. Too much time to think and plan. I’m much better with short deadlines.

That said, as you can see from the image above, I’m almost ready for show day which is only a short five weeks away. I’ve mounted and framed all the prints, 14 in total, so now I’m just waiting for the drop off details from Alistair. So we are all good to go.

Wait a minute… did I say five weeks? That means I’m ahead of schedule. What was all the rush about then?
